I cannot believe the mashup our culture has gone through with Trump as a candidate and now as president, All the lines about what people find publicly acceptable and what they do not are quite simply: being broken all the time. I am left flabbergasted.by this story, have no analysis and have no judgment, all stereotypes out the window. Welcome to the post-Warhol world? Twitter & Instagram = tools of the downfall of "Rome"?

Oh bloody hell - I don't want to be defending Trump's gang, but Cohen's not lusting over his daughter a la Donald nor putting her in a chastity belt a la Pence. It's not even a nude layout, it's lingerie, and if it's a good shoot, why shouldn't he post it and be proud of her. Are we flip-flopping here between sexual liberation and deep seated sexual fears? And my guess is he's posting the pictures more to show his support for her and her chosen activities than anything else.
America's so fucking prudish and hypocritical about sex, it pops up in pretty much everything. The whole fucking society's gonzo over every time the Kardashians or Jenners reveal some actual T&A, but a lingerie ad with his college aged daughter that's much tamer than even the now quite boring Victoria's Secret is treated as if the guy molested his 8-year-old.

You're getting at what bothers me, but not precisely there. The whole Trump sexual thing, the pussy tape and similar, the beauty pageants, the harassment accusations et. al. is bringing back a "good old days" 60's sexual revolution in its pre-feminist stages. I.E., the Rat Pack, Hugh Hefner and his bunnies. This is something the GOP rejected long ago when they decided to go whole hog "family values" of the Christian Coalition et. al., remember that old war? Trump breaks down this role for the GOP. But then, as you note, his lawyer is jumping it all to a whole new level, one that would be quite defensible for most libertine liberals, but certainly not a Christian conservative.
And then throw in that there is quite a difference here from the Edie picture he thinks it is channeling, as one Twitter replier points out. Edie's picture was of her sitting on a man, objectifying him, and the waif takes the power seat. The lawyer's daughter strips that all out, it is just straight-out Victoria's Secret stuff. I'm far from the type of feminist that Victoria's secret bothers, I see the value in role play as maids and nurses in the privacy of your own home.
But I know there is considerable ick factor for even a lot of libertine liberals when parents admire sexuality in their children, so much so that some famously drawn the line there in the kind of fine art they object to.
So you have a situation where an extremist radical feminist agree with family values, but not quite. And then throw in the Trump factor itself: this man defends Trump, therefore: he must be gross. And Trump supporters who normally would be offended by his lawyer posting a picture like this are willing to give it a pass, like they did with the pussy thing. And then how about him dragging out that panel of Bill Clinton's accusers?
MY HEAD SPINS....the reactions are not all puritan, but rather incredibly complex. It would be nice if this country's culture could remove sex from everything else, but that's not coming very soon, and in the meantime, this shows how upside down everything can go when it's involved.

Well, I didn't see it as even Victoria's Secret - it just seemed like a fairly innocuous lingerie shot.
But yes, the sexual revolution of the 60's where the Rat Pack had their swingers and the hip underground had their chicks and everywhere the girls were the reward for.... something.
And if they're not the free prize inside rewards, they're the what we got in the back Johnny/behind door #3 or the saving-for-Jesus (which presents its own weird God-as-sexual-predator connotations), and then there's the Jon Benet Ramsey thing which was sick without the murder, all that pre-pubescent beauty pageant thing, kinda reminds me of training bras used as some status symbol...
And then there's Melania who the right would condemn if she were married to a liberal but her model career is somehow okay now that she's with the right side (not that she's even involved in that political fight)
And could go on for a day.
