Komen caves, kinda, but still refusing to approve Planned Parenthood’s funding next year

As they say, you read, you decide.  Preview:

They'll still turn down Planned Parenthood again next time because of the supposed pass-through grant. Unless of course, Nancy Brinker was lying last night. So which is it?

“This represents nothing new. We have known and have reported that they are continuing five grants through 2012. This is a reference to that. The second clause about eligibility is certainly true. Any group can apply for anything. It does not mean they are going to get anything,” Ruse told LifeNews.

Geez, is the 'surrender' a trojan horse?  Or in fact, not even a surrender, since ongoing current funding was not being stopped.  According to this, it's all about the future funding processes, which is still not committed.  Hmmm.

Village Voice:

Mother Jones reported that Komen hasn't halted $7.5 million in grants to Penn State -- though the university is clearly under federal investigation for a child sex abuse scandal.

And now, this:

Discount Gun Sales, a firearms retailer, "is proud to team up with the Susan B. Komen Foundation to offer the Walther P-22 Hope Edition in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A portion of each P-22 Hope Edition will be donated to the Seattle Branch of the Susan G. Komen Foundation"(h/t Daily Kos' Scott Wooledge).

The Hope edition, as it turns out, has an "exclusive" DuraCoat Pink slide and appears to be an entirely un-ironic, real thing.

For only $429.99, it looks like, you can defend yourself -- and help prevent breast cancer -- with this modern polymer pistol.

A lot of small pistols and revolvers for women feature that ugly, pepto-bismol pink.

Am I the only one that finds this sick and wrong?!?

No you are not the only one. The foundation has been criticized for years. The public is now getting a look at how much there is to criticize.

Ooh!  That'll go nicely with my CA legal Hello Kitty AR-15...

I assumed this gun thing was a hoax. Is it for real?

It appears to be factual according to Village Voice post that Donal cited.

It is, however, untrue that Komen's slogan for 2012 will be "Kill Cancer Dead!" Though it does have a certain ring.

Second Amendment remedies...

Komen org is now denying any ties to the retailer, who has apparently taken down the web page where the pistol was featured and is refusing to comment to the press at this time.
