    Not since the days of President Pierce or President Buchanan or President Jackson have Americans

    been more enamored by our Current Leader.

    Tonight we shall be graced by the most inept English Speaker since George Bush Junior and yet, George W is looking better and better every damn day!

    Did you ever hate someone so very very bad and question whether or not you are the mentally imbalanced and not the object of your vituperation?

    Besides, as viewers we might catch the guy's false teeth failing; or the guy's nose sniffing; or the guy's failing video feed sending him into lala land?

    BUT LET US ALL HOPE FOR THE BEST!

    I mean the guy could blow a gasket and we would be able to see the Secret Service carry the bastard out on a gurney?

    Trump causes us to be depressed. The Republicans know that he is an idiot. His supporters don’t care that he is an idiot. I do not forgive the voters who put the idiot into office. He is a white nationalist. He hired other white nationalists Bannon and Miller. His Chief of Staff refuses to apologize to a black Congresswoman. I call out racism because it stares us in the face daily. Hate crimes are increasing. There was a sign at the Women’s March that said “If you Support a Racist You Just Might Be a Racist”. Pence is toady to a racist and we forgive him because he blushed when a black pastor criticized Trump’s shithole comment. If Louis Farrakhan was called an anti-Semite to his face, he too would blush. The blush would not mean that Farrakhan was not anti-Semitic, it is just a normal physiologic response to the direct confrontation. The difference between Pence and Farrakhan is that you can tell Pence blushed but it is harder to detect in Farrakhan. Pence gets points for blushing, Farrakhan would not. The entire White House is infected. The Republicans in Congress have picked up the disease. Republicans support the racist. Because they ignore the racism, they are willing to destroy the FBI and the DOJ. They are willing to rehash Uranium One while ignoring the Cyberwar we are in with Russia. Our country is under attack from within. It does not matter what the Republicans say, they will do the same vile things that they have been doing. ​A Nazi  killed a woman in Charlottesville, ministers were hunted down and attacked, and Trump found good people in the crowd. This is the face of our opposition. We cannot sugarcoat this reality.

    Trump is trying to inflame conflict between blacks and Latinos using immigration. Blacks are told immigrants are taking your low-skilled jobs. Blacks ask why are we limited to low-skilled entry-level jobs? At the same time that there are all these immigrants, Trump says that he (not Obama) has lowered black unemployment. He ignores that black unemployment remains twice that of whites. As long as Trump can divert, Trump wins. 538 has Trump’s approval at 39% today. That is a scary number.

    I just saw a really good Brit body language expert analyze his tricks on BBC News. She started her remarks with this: he's improved, has gotten frighteningly better at this....I thought spot on. While I didn't watch the whole thing from what I watched, it was like a light bulb hearing her little segment,  as in: oh I see, that is exactly what seemed different, he was just recently coached on adding body language to the teleprompter speech. All his gestures and motions were what slowed it down, they were very purposeful and synched with the script. Not natural, to be sure, but whoever worked with him tried to use his moves that we already know, liked pointing up with one finger, etc.

    Tomi Lahren, the Conservative pundit fired by Glenn Beck’s Blaze for being poor-abortion now works for Fox News. In her Twitter repo d to Kenddy’s Speech, she attacked his manhood. She later deleted the tweets, but  they were captured before deletion (because we are in 2018). Lahren’s response is typical of what we get from modern Conservatives. They are authoritarians.

    BUT THAT SAID

    strikes me that there's a difference though, as even it were true, people will slow down to look at a car crash. Is clear to anyone by now, as opposed to the inauguration, that people would tune in to this SOTU just to see what he did.This is where his narcissism gets extra crazy, because he equates adoration with ratings, he'd rather have attention of the mass quantities of people than adoration, everything according to the "no news is bad news" p.r. thing.

    Brings up for me all the problems the world has with a troll as president of the U.S., you can't not feed him, as his trolling is part of the whole political game. If you're political, you can't not feed a demagogue.

    But this particular demagogue really is a troll. Though he hasn't really gone far this way yet, he could very well betray fans for ratings, he doesn't care if you are upset with him or hate him as long as you are paying attention to him.

    Carrying this line of thought even further, it's clear he took advice from professionals for the speech, stuck to the script. But he doesn't always do that if he instinctively feels it won't get him ratings, hence the defiance disorder mentioned in Howard Kurtz's new book.
