The enormous amount of hate is not real

See this whole thread. It makes it so clear that the enormous amount of hate, divisiveness and mistrust is not real, it is caused by a tiny minority. It is basically ginned up by a small number of teen trolls with a lot of time on their hands. The social media people are failing at the task of maintaining the benefits of freedom of speech. Someone has to fix the problem of being able to play the algorithms. It's not just a Putin problem, as anyone can do it. Until the situation is fixed, it is ever more important not to feed the trolls or to ridicule them. By taking them seriously, one is basically giving them the keys to the kingdom.

    A few very busy bees

These accounts entirely dedicated to sending death threats and pictures of nooses to recently laid off journalists are still live, 24 hours after our report citing examples.

Is anybody doing any moderation of any kind at these companies? This is not hard!https://t.co/Mm1EqoNCeI

    Recurses, foiled again.

    Did someone say discovery?

Nunes has an answer for that. The only reason the Special Counsel Office would be interested in Committee testimony is because they are scraping the barrel.

    *Nunes looks nervously at barrel.*

How it works, well explained in a twitter thread

Fantastic explanatory thread on how online media are being weaponized by diverse malicious actors, with careful analysis of a particular case with a particular video, and the tools used, in all their subtlety. https://t.co/BxmJsX3KJ6

from the summary of the thread

    (26) If the purpose of the attacks are to make us hate each other and divide our minds into “Us” and “Them” tribes, how do we civilians protect our minds from this division? I submit to you, that our best hope to survive this modern bombardment is nothing short of ACTIVE UNITY.
