    Scarface for C in C.

As we are now obliged to parse with renewed urgency the ravings generated over 16 months by Queens' favorite son, of early and impactful note is his call for the revenge murder of the children of terrorists.

I call this of early impact because it is the kind of remark you might well expect a suicide bomber who attacked, oh, say a school in Peshawar, to proffer as a justification.

I have always been struck by the gap between even the (arguably less demonic) willingness of our Presidents to accept collateral, if not deliberate damage and the fictional position advanced by Tony  Montana.

    "No wife, no kids"

Coincidentally, this is not the only Scarface to be heard on the issue.  Fictionalized Al Capone, expressing his position on his adversary's offspring?

"...I want his family dead, I want his house burned to the ground"

I'm afraid we have gotten the wrong Scarface for Commander in Chief.

I am particularly sensitive on this issue, because it is a matter of some family pride that when my illustrious forebear, Alaric Balt, had his exit interview with Honorius (Alaric resigned as top general, some rancor attended the issue of severance compensation) he gave and enforced orders to his Visigoths that no woman or child should be harmed, notwithstanding the unpleasant necessity of neutralizing the legions.

To defend the targeted murders of noncombatants, who better than John Bolton,, back in the UN.

He has experience with arguing the difficult justification of  this recognized war crime to .

He preceded even Trump as an "early adopter", following a Somali pirate rescue that successfully returned all captured seaman and the vessel seized,( but with only three--apparently insufficient--Somali casualties)  that punitive bombing be brought to the villages (not only the blood relations--pace, Donald Trump!) of the dead pirates.
