the anonymice reporting in that any contingency plans considered must be vast enough to consider the conspiratorial dreams of a madman:
I am thinking that without an extensive psychological profile, they have a hopeless task.

Makes me think of big picture. How much manpower and time and effort all those investigations would take and, if Dems were in charge of Congress, how much they might steal from positive projects getting done. And even steal from the messaging that this is a party that wants to get things done for the people and not just attack the other side for wrongdoing.
(Yes, it is similar to the Gerald Ford pardon of Nixon argument: let's move forward. And you recently did point out a poll showing how the majority didn't seem to like that idea much. So there's that.)
The other important big picture thing to keep in mind: how the troll is not going away until he dies, even if no longer the president, even as a jailed martyr. And that the size of the troublesome fanbase that stays with him until and after his death could vary depending upon what is revealed in investigations. Fox News et. al. plays a crucial role in all of that. That's why I like watching for signs they are turning on 100% support of the troll.

Obama also tried that "let's look forward" thing which allowed the GOP to focus on shoving branches in his spokes while making him the devil. Sometimes you gotta make em wear the dunce cap a while and sit in the ciener, even if distracts the rest of the class.
In any case, this is all optimistic - bigger chance is that they + Russians hack the election and we spend the next years howling about unfair while they continue the kleptocracy.
