    Polonius Advises His Son

    Give thy thoughts no tongue,

    Nor any unproportion'd thought his act.

    Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar;

    The friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,

    Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;

    But do not dull thy palm with entertainment

    Of each new-hatch'd, unfledg'd comrade. Beware

    Of entrance to a quarrel, but, being in,

    Bear 't that th' opposed may beware of thee.

    Give every man thine ear, but few thy voice;

    Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment.

    Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,

    But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy;

    For the apparel oft proclaims the man.

    Neither a borrower, nor a lender be;

    For loan oft loses both itself and friend,

    And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.

    This above all: to thine own self be true,

    And it must follow, as the night the day,

    Thou canst not then be false to any man.

    William Shakespeare

    Well things have not changed that much in four hundred years.

    Fathers still love to give advice to their children—whether that advice was sought or naught!

    The type of advice changes over the centuries to reflect the times, to reflect the current sentimentality of the people and to reflect the level of empathy toward common citizens.

    But as far as decency is concerned, the British-born, Long Island-residing Derbyshire seems to have it in perilously little supply, as is demonstrated by his advice to his teenaged children, which I think only a Klansman would find hilarious:

    • You will observe that the means — the averages — of many traits are very different for black and white Americans, as has been confirmed by methodical inquiries in the human sciences.

    • While black-on-black behavior is more antisocial in the average than is white-on-white behavior, average black-on-white behavior is a degree more antisocial yet.

    •  Avoid concentrations of blacks not all known to you personally.

    •  Stay out of heavily black neighborhoods.

    • If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date (neglect of that one got me the closest I have ever gotten to death by gunshot).

    • Do not attend events likely to draw a lot of blacks.

    • If you are at some public event at which the number of blacks suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible.

    • Do not settle in a district or municipality run by black politicians.

    • Before voting for a black politician, scrutinize his/her character

    • Do not settle in a district or municipality run by black politicians.

    • Before voting for a black politician, scrutinize his/her character

    • Do not act the Good Samaritan to blacks in apparent distress, e.g., on the highway.

    • If accosted by a strange black in the street, smile and say something polite but keep moving.

    • The mean intelligence of blacks is much lower than for whites

    See also sentiments along similar lines

    A small cohort of blacks—in my experience, around five percent—is ferociously hostile to whites and will go to great lengths to inconvenience or harm us. A much larger cohort of blacks—around half—will go along passively if the five percent take leadership in some event. They will do this out of racial solidarity, the natural willingness of most human beings to be led, and a vague feeling that whites have it coming.

    To be sure, all races and tribes have some problems empathizing with 'outsiders'.

    Marion Barry complains about those dirty Asian Shops!

    I was just struck most by the talking points of two fathers to their children!

    Rush Limbaugh also tried to use satire as a defense in his attack on an Sandra Fluke.

    Marion Barry does not want Gays or Asians in his line of sight. He is very willing to associate with crackheads.

    No argument there rmrd! That is for sure!

    The 'Outsiders' should be the meme.

    We all have our inner demons. I have plenty!

    Like Bill Burr and others, I am not elated when men kiss men!

    I was thrown into this outrage emanating from a bond between black men and white women until I was 18.

    Finding inner fairness is not an easy thing.

    Or anyone could do it! ha

    Throw the first stone you innocents.

    Although there are no innocents.

    There are just those who attempt, just attempt, at being among all humans rather than a tribe!

           It's not that 'history repeats itself' because the bigotry and ignorance has never not been with our society.

           It's good to write and 'discuss' these putrid and ugly actions.  It's our best weapon, an important element of standing up and speaking out.  Posts like yours are powerful reminders that we must never be complacent or silent.

    Tis funny, but I recalled that Polonius sends spies to France to check on his son and see if Laertes would follow half of his truisms. hahahaha

    We must attempt to be wary but humane at the same time!

    Life is not easy; or anyone could do it.
