    QUOTE OF THE YEAR

    Cody-Buffalo-Bill-LOC.jpg

I just ran across this at the New Yorker. I cannot even remember why I ended up at the New Yorker. hahhah

TOLEDO (The Borowitz Report)—At a campaign rally on Friday, Donald Trump warned that Hillary Clinton is scheming to “rig the debate by using facts” in their first televised face-off, on Monday.

    http://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/trump-warns-that-clinton-will-rig-debate-by-using-facts

I guess T-Rump goes on to talk about 'little facts'. hahahahahaah

If Gore or Bush or Clinton or Dole or......ever intimated that their opponents were cheating by using FACTS?

This just got to me whilst I am attempting to do the Sunday NYT Crossword and sipping on a watered down whiskey. hahaha

    THINK ABOUT THIS.

    He is not kidding!

Cause he knows no facts. hahahah

Donald does not even know what a fact is?

I already have linked scores of quotes by this ignoramus.

There is 42% unemployment in this country.

I've given tens of millions to charities over the years.

I do not have time for this.

Slate can take care of this in their continuing compilation.

And you know, Hillary is right.

Half of the Trumpers will scream:

WHAT THE HELL DO FACTS HAVE TO DO WITH ALL OF THIS ANYWAY?

“I am taking a pledge not to use facts at the debate,” he said, raising his right hand. “I challenge Crooked Hillary to take that pledge.”

    (ibid)

Sorry, I do not have much more to add here.

Nihilism has reached its all time height.

T-rump has broken the brass ceiling.

A hundred million people (and more I would surmise if you include foreign bloggers) will witness this debacle.

This will be like a seasoned eighth grade teacher debating a six-year-old with a C Average.

    Who was it who said:

    GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK?

This debate will be a combination of Buffalo Bill's  and his Wild West along with some Harvard Debate Squad.

    Comments

Psssst.  (Borowitz is a satirist, Dick.)   Sometimes he's even funny, depending on one's taste, of course.  ;-)

    Yeah you are right.

But I aint changin a noun or a verb on this blog.

Hell, what are they gonna say:

    HE'S A LIAR! dhahahahahahahah

    Oh and thanks.

This New Yorker essay is hilarious!

"Satirist, schmaterist, the fact is, ain't nothing funny that isn't true in some way, somehow ... if you catch my drift." -  Abraham Lincoln-Logs

    hahahahah Mr. Smith

I am just so very worried about where we are drifting.

    ha

"Whither are we drifting" - Maynard G. Krebs

As you can see from the above quote, you are not the only one who has had that thought on their mind of late.

Don't worry.  I'm confident that the forces of Good will prevail in the end.

It just might take a while for the good forces to win, so brace yourself for it.  This election can go either way.

Monday's night debate should be full of quotes.  The question will be "Will you still love me in the morning."

Laura Nyro wrote and sang this one from the 1960's.  I think she does the best version of it.  This one is for you.

Ooooh Momoe you are too nice to me. hahaha

I know one thing, I shall always love you tomorrow.

    the end

Well ... you get either 4 Pinnochios or a Pants on Fire for this one, trkingmomoe... actually, the song is by Carole King and the original version was sung by the Shirelles.  Sorry, just Politifact-checking your music choices.  wink
    .

    MrSmith ...

1960 ... It was banned from airplay in many cities as too sexually suggestive.

Los Angeles was NOT one of the cities.

I was 14 at the time...

With a flat-top, fenders, and of course a duck tail.

    ~OGD~

LOL...You have to admit this is more fun than talking about Trump and Clinton.

My brother had a flat top and it always looked like he was bald in the center of the top of his head.  Now he really is bald on the center of his head like a monk.  I forget what he used to keep his fenders in place.

Yes, a LOT more fun.  Thanks for the set-up.   I was 9 going on 10 in 1960, and we lived in West Hartford, CT.  I wasn't aware of any controversy about this song, I just liked it.  My sister, who is four years older,  bought the 45 record and played it a lot.  I don't think I understood why for a number of years.  I think it interested me for both the melody and what I thought at the time was a somewhat sad and lonely feeling that it had to it around the edges.

It probably helped nudge along feminism quite a bit in its own way - the frat boy surfin'-safari ethos was actually giving way to women who objected to the crass use-and-discard mentality of the time & still today.

Looking at the RottenTomato page for the generally execrable remake of Magnificent Seven, with the red tomatoes being more damning than the green splats, I was struck by 1 review:

There's even a woman this time. She's a match for any of the men, and might have been included among their number had it not been necessary for her to shed tears at one point, and to serve the guys dinner at another.

Yeah, even Superwoman knows she better get home in time to make dinner. Le plus ça change....

Wow, OGD -  I turned 10 in December of 1960.    A duck-tail, fenders and a flat-top?  Out of the question for me.  According to my parents, that's the kind of haircuts that 'hoods' like Elvis Presley got.

      wink

Mine was exhibited in Terrance Malick's "Tree of Life" as Brad PItt gives his kids those fashionable military buzzcuts. Yes sir, thank you sir, may I have another....

Yeah I am more than a week late. hahahhah

I love this song. I have always loved this song.

    Why do I comment now?

Who the hell knows. One of my old friends Oxy attributed this behavior to too much cough syrup. hahahhaah

Well here is another compendium of lies from Politico:

    http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/09/2016-donald-trump-fact-check-week-214287?utm_source=huffingtonpost.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pubexchange

I am beginning to feel that Hillary should just start calling T-Rump poopie pants at the debate!

    ha

But catch this quote from The Donald:

“I really don’t appreciate campaigns thinking it is the job of the media to go and be these virtual fact-checkers and that these debate moderators should somehow do their bidding,” she said. “They picked on Matt Lauer after the commander-in-chief debate forum. We thought he did a great job, but they didn’t like the fact that Hillary Clinton was asked about her e-mail server and her route in Iraq. That’s not Matt Lauer’s fault.”

What the hell is the difference from this quote than from the Satirist's New Yorker quote?

Didn't the League of Women Voters used to control these debates?

Yes, the GOP got rid of them like they ditched ACORN and the voting rights act and so many other things.

Peracles has me laughing so hard on this issue. hahaha

But, if my memory (like I have such?) is correct, the League of Women Voters did have a hand in the older debates.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/League_of_Women_Voters

Exactly - Repubs didn't like it that women have good memories and know how to fact check (Where ya been, Peri, and don't give me that "working late" jazz). Limits the ability to say any old shit and get away with it.
