White House hopeful Bernie Sanders, who has fought the Democratic establishment throughout his campaign, made an extraordinary appeal Sunday for party insiders to help deliver the nomination to him, even if he doesn’t catch rival Hillary Clinton in the remaining primaries and caucuses.

As someone in the WaPo comments noted, there are polls showing Bernie beating Donald so we didn't need the primaries, just a few polls. A lot cheaper and easier, no? Just ask 1000 carefully selected people - who needs superdelegates?

Not that I much like the game of splaining* what your opponents should do, rather than Bernie destroying his built-up brand with a quixotic hypocritical foray to convince superdelegates to follow some questionable polls, maybe he could focus his followers' energy on get-out-the-vote for interesting down ticket candidates that fit his criteria, thereby assuring himself a bloc of influence going forward, rather than another backbench bitcher.
In any case, I don't see his current approach of "I'm going to blow up the convention" as improving his ability to bargain concessions from the winner - quite the opposite. Though admirably, it probably makes it easier for followers to detach and get behind Hillary. Maybe he's doing it on purpose, taking one for the team?
